settling

The feeling of settling into one’s notches 

Easing down a level

Tension, unseen until the moment of release

Draining, slipping away 

To leave exhaled breath, like disappearing mist on a cool window

Leaving a memory of a deficit behind

(less than nothing)

The space left by a visible breath in cold air

Slipping into sleep

Dreams quietly appear.
